Pregnant women who are past their first trimester will be allowed to take the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. The decision came out of a Ministry of Health meeting with stakeholders on Tuesday. It was announced by the Ministry of Health’s epidemiology division’s technical director Dr Avery Hinds on Wednesday. He said further details on the rollout will come in the near future from the Director of Women’s Health Dr Adesh Sirjusingh.
The stakeholders involved in the meeting included the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO), the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), and obstetrician-gynaecologists in both the public and private sectors.
