New International Immunisation Travel cards available in Tobago

Persons who wish to travel can now access the new International Immunization Travel Cards at the office of the County Medical Officer of Health. Health officials say several people believe that the TRHA stamp or signature placed on their existing Immunization Travel Cards after being vaccinated is sufficient for international travel; however, it’s not.

Many countries now require that persons provide official proof of vaccination to avoid being placed in quarantine upon arrival. Senior Corporate Communications Officer at the Division of Health Wellness and Family Development Rion George stressed that the requisite clearance could only be issued at the Office of the County Medical Officer of Health.

“The new International Immunization Travel Cards are quite different from the existing ones because it comes with a number of safety features to prevent fraud, and it’s also different from the standard Immunization Card.
Persons who already have Immunization Travel Cards need to be updated because for the card to be recognized it has to carry a specific stamp that can only be issued from the CMOH’s office.”

New International Immunization Travel Cards will be issued at the Office of the County Medical Officer of Health on Wednesday’s only between 9:00am and 12:00pm. Persons are asked to bring a valid passport, proof of travel, immunization card and National ID card.

Existing International Immunization Travel Cards will be issued using a drop-off – pick up method. Persons are also asked to bring their International Immunization Travel cards, their Immunization cards and National ID. Documents can be dropped off from Monday to Friday between 9:00 am -12:00 am and collected in two days’ time. According to George, the system was implemented to minimize the possibility of persons congregating at the office.
