New SWMCOL board appointed

The newly appointed Board of the Solid Waste Management Company Limited (SWMCOL) has been issued the challenge of transforming the ways in which the country disposes of its waste by placing greater emphasis on recycling programmes, among other things.

The newly appointed Board of the Solid Waste Management Company Limited (SWMCOL) has been issued the challenge of transforming the ways in which the country disposes of its waste by placing greater emphasis on recycling programmes, among other things.

The challenge was issued by Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales MP, as he handed out Instruments of Appointment to its members at the Ministry’s Head Office in St. Clair, on Wednesday 6 January 2021.

As he gave the new Board this mandate, Minister Gonzales underscored the need for the development of innovative, environmentally friendly approaches to the management of waste, and a transition from the methods that currently obtain.

The new SWMCOL Board comprises Mr. Ron Milford as Chairman and Mr. Steve Waldron as Deputy Chairman. Other members of the Board are: Mr. Reval Chattergoon, Mr. Jabari Jacob, Ms. Yvonne Sarabjit, Mr. Roger Murray, Mr. Cecil D.A. Legendre, Ms. Lea Ramoutar Vialva, Mr. Gerard Ramarack, and Ms. Candace Solomon.
