Police are asking anyone who may know the mother of the deceased newborn baby found in the Claxton Bay landfill or any other information to come forward.
The baby girl’s body was discovered on Monday morning by workers at the Forres Park Landfill who alerted the security.
Reports stated that shortly before midday, the security informed the police that the body of a baby was found in the landfill in an area known as “The Pit.” The body was found in a brown cardboard box surrounded by garbage.
The baby is believed to be mere days old.
A district medical officer viewed the body and ordered its removal.
An autopsy was expected to be done at the Forensic Science Centre.
Couva and Homicide detectives are investigating.
