Retired barrister receives national award

Mahmud Sultan Dean Aziz was today recognized for his commitment to country.

The retired barrister-at-law received the Public Service Medal of Merit from president Paula-Mae Weekes after a brief ceremony at the President's Cottage.

As he addressed members of the media he reiterated his commitment to not only his country but his Muslim faith.

As we learn in this report his defense of his religion may have put his life in danger following the 1990 coup after he labelled the insurrection a criminal act.
