In an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19, the National Insurance Board of Trinidad and Tobago (NIBTT) will only be providing essential services to members of the public from tomorrow (Wednesday).
NIBTT issued this statement this morning hours after scores of people gathered in front of the NIB office in San Fernando with several of them seeking to apply for the salary relief grant. According to the media release, “The National Insurance Board of Trinidad and Tobago (NIBTT), takes the welfare and safety of our customers, members of the general public, and our employees very seriously.
To minimize against the spread of COVID-19, and to encourage social distancing at NIBTT’s locations, ONLY ESSENTIAL SERVICES will be undertaken from Wednesday 25th March 2020 until further notice.” Customers are only to visit the service centers to make contribution payments by cash and for funeral grant while a Drop-Box Service will be provided for contribution payments by cheque, all other claim forms and social welfare forms.
Submissions for the Drop Box must be placed in sealed envelopes.
“The NIBTT is well positioned to navigate through this challenging period of the COVID-19 situation while having care and compassion for our customers as an uppermost consideration in our business decisions. We ask that you take personal responsibility to protect yourselves, your families and other loved ones,” the release added. NIBTT has also added new temporary numbers to make it easier for customers to contact them. The numbers are 687-1696, 687-3628, 687-3681, 687-3447, 686-9654. Customers can also contact NIBTT at 625-4NIS, through their email [email protected] or website at www.nibtt.net.Customers are also encouraged to use NIBTT’s online payment facility.
