Nine Venezuelans detained in Palo Seco

Nine Venezuelans were detained by Santa Flora Police for illegal entry into
Trinidad on August 2nd.
According to police reports, around 10:15 am on the aforementioned date, an anonymous caller contacted the Santa Flora Police Station and reported that Venezuelan immigrants were seen coming off a boat at the Palo Seco Beach.

As a result, Cpl Ag Monsegue and PC Clarke left on enquiries and on arrival at the said location, the officers observed nine Venezuelans, comprising of two adults,
four teenagers and three small children, coming off a small wooden boat.
On seeing the officers, the driver of the boat sped off and escaped.


The nine Venezuelans were detained, taken to the Santa Flora Police
Station, then conveyed to the Siparia Health Facility for COVID-19
screening and are currently being held at the Erin Police Station.
Investigations are continuing.
