No bail for man accused of sex with girl, 11

A 39-year-old man was denied bail when he appeared in a virtual hearing before Magistrate Joanne Connor, on Wednesday 9th March at the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court, charged with two counts of sexual penetration of a minor.

A 39-year-old man was denied bail when he appeared in a virtual hearing before Magistrate Joanne Connor, on Wednesday 9th March at the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court, charged with two counts of sexual penetration of a minor.

The accused, of Signal Hill, Tobago, was arrested after the victim, an 11-year-old girl, reported that during the period January 2020, and April 2020, the accused had sexual intercourse with her.

The girl further reported that sometime between Saturday 29th February 2020 and Wednesday 1st April 2020, the accused gave her alcohol.

Investigating officer, WPC Clarke of the Tobago Division Child Protection Unit (CPU), arrested and charged the suspect for two counts of sexual penetration of a minor.

He is expected to reappear at the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 6th April 2021, to answer to the charges.
