One person was arrested, and a firearm seized by officers of the Moruga Police Station, during an anti-crime exercise in Moruga yesterday.
The exercise was coordinated by Supt Maharaj and ASP Thedore-Persad and supervised by Ag Inspector Prescott and Sgt. Lewis and members of the Moruga Police Station PC Vilava and PC Phagoo at around 11:30 am.
According to police reports, officers responded to a report of an assault at Maingot Trace, Basse Terre.
Upon arrival, they met the suspect who led the party of officers to a busy area off Warren Trace where they retrieved a 12 Gauge Shotgun.
The suspect was arrested and charged for five offences; possession of a firearm, two counts of common assault, assault by beating and assault occasional actual bodily harm.
Investigations are ongoing.
