Breaking news this evening, one person has been killed in an accident along the Uriah Butler Highway.
TTPS Road Safety Coordinator Brent Batson confirmed the incident to Guardian Media.
The accident occurred close to 7 pm in the vicinity of the Divali Nagar site.
It is reported that a vehicle proceeding along the northbound lane of the highway crossed the median and crashed into another vehicle proceeding south.
Fire officers are currently on the scene.
The accident has led to gridlock traffic along both the southbound and northbound lanes of the highway.
Motorists are being asked to proceed with caution.
