One new death from COVID, 19 new positive cases

Tobago has recorded a new death from COVID-19 over the last 24 hours. An unvaccinated person is the latest victim of the disease, and their death brings the island’s death toll to 261 lives lost.

Prior to Thursday April 7th, the most recent death on the island was recorded on Sunday 3rd April 2022—one (1) unvaccinated person was recorded as the deceased on that date.

Also in the latest update from Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), dated Thursday 7th April 2022, some 19 people in Tobago have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.  The number of current active infections on the island now stands at 340.

The Health Division also is reporting that 12 people currently are hospitalised with COVID-19.  Eleven (11) of these patients have not been vaccinated at all against the disease, while only one (1) patient has been fully vaccinated.

The Tobago COVID-19 update for 7th April 2022 also notes that at present, the total number of people in Tobago who have recovered from COVID-19 since March 2020, now stands at 7,657.
