The Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA) will be hosting an Online Stakeholder Consultation on the Draft Policy for the Creation of Welfare Regulations, next Tuesday 28th September 2021, between 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm.

OSHA is seeking to facilitate the creation of a robust draft Welfare Policy document which will guide the creation of Regulations.

“It is imperative that we receive input from stakeholders in order to better ensure the development of a mechanism for safe and healthy workplaces throughout Trinidad and Tobago,” the Agency explains.

OSHA says the key objectives of these Welfare Regulations are:

■   To safeguard the health and wellbeing of the working population.

■   To assist duty holders in the understanding of the requirements of the Act.

■   To reasonably and adequately address the needs of the Differently Abled in places of work.

■   To extend these regulations to include all workplaces and

■   To expand the scope of these Regulations pertaining to aspects of workplace health such as ventilation, lighting and cleanliness.

Those wishing to participate in the Online Stakeholder Consultation on the Draft Policy for the Creation of Welfare Regulations are advised to register for the consultation at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WelFRegs.  Upon registration, participants will receive a copy of the initial draft policy along with the UK’s Welfare Regulations as an attachment, via email.

OSHA is asking participants, as part of their preparation for the Consultation, to carefully review the documents in advance in order to provide even more meaningful and informed contributions.
