National Security Minister Stuart Young is taken to an ambulance by fire officers and his security personnel after a fall at the opening of the Penal Fire Station.

Within minutes of a video post of National SecurityMinister Stuart Young falling as he left a stage at the newly opened Penal Fire Station, hundreds of people were wishing the minister well.

Young was taken to hospital after he injured his arm in the fall.

The video, posted on the CNC3 Facebook page, showed a shaky step at the bottom of the stage, which led to the minister’s fall.

Under the post, Stanley Ryan wote, “That’s Very Unfortunate! Clearly, The Footpath Was Not Properly Secured. That Is Quite UNACCEPTABLE To Say The Least! Speedy Recovery Hon. Minister.”

Tara Gadar added, “Hope it’s nothing serious. Speedy recovery Mr.Young.”

A comment from Indira Mohammed reads, “Hope he’s OK. I would die of shame if that happened to me. Get well soon Minister.”

Others also made mention of the step, with Monifa Russell-Andrews saying, “What foolish step down is that. Look how it rocking. He should not have gotten up so quickly. Hmmm hope its nothing too serious.”

Some made it clear that their compassion for the minister went beyond political lines.

Charm Charm Sylvester wrote, “I am no fan or supporter of the PNM but…Trinidad & Tobago there are times we need to rise above party politics/devotion. Mr Young’s injury should not be rejoiced over or politicized. Do unto others as you’ll have them do unto you,” while Marla Villafana added, “I am not I interested in what side he on , he got an injury ,I wish him a speedy recovery as I would wish anyone.”

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar who was at the event also expressed concern for the minister and said that she was very upset about it.

Udecott’s Divisional Manager Operations, Sean Fouche said it was too early to say what happened and added that Udecott will investigate the matetr.
