PAHO/WHO donates PPE to TT

The Pan American Health Organisation/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) donated over 2,500 pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) to this country yesterday to aid in the country’s fight against the novel coronavirus, COVID-19.

According to a Ministry of Health release PAHO/WHO Country Representative, Dr Erica Wheeler, presented the items to Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh and Betty-Ann Pilgrim, National Administrator, Nursing Services.

The PPE included 1,250 surgical gowns, 1,250 surgical masks and 50 safety glasses.

“This donation is a demonstration of the longstanding partnership between the Ministry of Health and PAHO/WHO which underscores their common commitment to safeguarding the public health of Trinidad and Tobago,” the release said.

The organisation’s donation came after Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowey revealed that China also donated resources to the country’s fight which included 4,000 test kits and 15 scanners.
