Despite less traffic on the roads due to the closure of non-essential services, a New Grant man died in a car crash yesterday morning.
Police said Paul Andrews, 41, died on the scene when the car he was an occupant of crashed into another.
A report stated that around 8.20 am, Andrews was a back seat passenger of a white Nissan Sunny B-14 that was travelling along Brother’s Road, New Grant.
On reaching Busy Corner, it collided with a silver Nissan Note travelling in the opposite direction.
The impact sent the Note into a neighbouring property while the B-14 rolled partially off the road.
Villagers rushed to help and contacted police and an ambulance.
Tableland police responded, but Andrews was already dead.
The driver of the Note suffered injuries and was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital for treatment.
