A Petit Valley man was arrested, and a firearm and a quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Western Division, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the district yesterday.
Official police reports indicate that the exercise was carried out between 11:00 am and 7:00 pm, on Thursday 28th May 2020.
Officers on exercise reportedly proceeded to the Simeon Road, Petit Valley, home of a 30-year-old male suspect, who was wanted in connection with several offences—including common assault, possession of firearm and ammunition, shooting with intent, robbery and housebreaking and larceny.
Police reports state that when the officers arrived at the location, the suspect attempted to escape, but was held a short distance away.
A search resulted in the discovery of one Glock 17 pistol fitted with an extended magazine, and containing eight rounds of ammunition, in his possession.
The suspect was arrested in connection with the find.
Investigations are ongoing.
