A Pleasantville shop owner was shot and killed by a man pretending to be a customer at his business place yesterday.

The victim has been identified as Ajala Donaldson, 36, of Mahogany Avenue, Pleasantville.

Donaldson’s two brothers, Kadeem Jordon and Jahmai Donaldson, were also murdered within the past three years, police said.

Reports stated that around midday, Donaldson, who operated a parlour in front of his home, heard someone calling and went to attend to them.

Video footage circulating on social media shows a man of dark complexion later paying for an item.

As Donaldson turned to leave the shop, however, the man pulled out a gun and shot him several times. He then grabbed an item off the counter and walked away.

Residents told police they heard gunshots and found Donaldson on the ground. He died at the scene.

Police are still trying to ascertain a motive.

In January 2018, Donaldson’s brother Jahmai, 26, was cutting grass at the nearby Elm Street when occupants of a vehicle opened fire on him and another man, Akeemie Wilson, 30. Both men were killed.

In April last year, Donaldson’s other brother Kadeem Jordon, 27, was driving his Mercedes Benz in Pleasantville when a Tiida crashed into his car and the occupants fatally shot him.

Eight months later, Jordon’s girlfriend and the mother of his two children Natalia Cooper, 25, was gunned down in her car when she arrived home with her children on Old Year’s Night.

Then in July, Jordon’s relative Kayode Jordon, also known as Firehouse and Kyle, of Pleasantville, was also killed in Princes Town.

Investigators could not say yesterday whether all the murders were linked.

Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region 3 are investigating.
