The Point Fortin District Court has been closed after a member of staff was exposed to a person who has been tested for Covid-19 and is awaiting results.
In a press release issued this morning, the Judiciary stated that no one will be allowed into the Court building.
They said vacating the building has become necessary as a precautionary measure given that while the staff member has not been confirmed as Covid-19 positive, the usual precautions for this level of exposure have called for the current course of action.
The sanitisation of the facility will be conducted and there shall be no in-person hearings or activities until further notice.
Virtual Court Hearings will continue.
The Judiciary stated that members of the public will be kept apprised of developments and are kindly reminded that services such as CourtPay, the Domestic Violence Hotline and E-filing are available.
