A 21-year-old man of Palo Seco is assisting detectives with their investigation into a supermarket robbery in the South Oropouche district yesterday.
According to police reports, on Tuesday 27th October 2020, a 29-year old businessman made a distress call to the police and reported that two men stormed into his business place and announced a hold-up. The owner told police that one of the men pulled out a gun and pointed it at him following which he was robbed of $2,000 and $1,200 worth of Ciroc. The two men then escaped in a waiting silver Nissan B-14 vehicle which sped off in the direction of Mon Desir Junction.
Quick action by the officers of the Oropouche Police Station and the South-Western Division Task Force, resulted in the discovery of the vehicle along Lackraj Trace, Avocat Village, Siparia Old Road, Fyzabad. Police mounted a search and tracked the suspects, believed to have made their escape into the neighbouring forested area. One of the suspects found hiding in the bushes was caught and arrested. The 21-year-old man of S.S Erin Road, Palo Seco, was searched by officers and they allegedly found in his possession one Taurus revolver with three rounds of .38 ammunition and $2,135. The stolen alcohol was also found in the vehicle.
