Three men who decided to break into a Princes Town resident’s home had the worst timing, as the police caught them red-handed.

While on inquiries along St Julien Branch Road around 12.20 pm on Sunday, Insp Ramlogan saw a man standing near a green Nissan B-14 acting suspiciously.

Ramlogan, who was with PC Chapman, asked the man what he was doing in the area but he could not give a satisfactory reason.

As a result, Insp Ramlogan went to a nearby house and saw two men exiting the home.

One of them was holding a Stihl wacker, a guitar and a knapsack across his chest, while the other man was holding a Firman generator.

The inspector searched the knapsacks and found a laptop, Samsung cell phone, VMX Power bank, mouse and other items. The officers contacted the homeowner.

The three men were subsequently arrested and were taken to the police station along with the items in their possession pending further enquiries.

The victim told police he left his home around 8.15 am and when he returned around 2.45 pm, the items were missing.

Entry was gained by prying open a lock to a door on the southern side of the home.

Asp Jaikaran, Sgt Reid and PC Clarence also visited the scene.

Crime Scene Investigators WPC Loutan and PC Rampersad processed the scene and workable prints were found.

PC Clarence is continuing enquiries. — Sascha Wilson
