Police find firearm, ammunition in Arouca

A 19-year-old man was arrested for driving without driver’s permit, without a certificate of insurance and resisting arrest; and a firearm and a quantity of ammunition was found in a forested area off Windy Hill, Arouca by officers of the Northern Division.

This occurred during an anti-crime exercise conducted in Arouca yesterday afternoon.

The exercise, coordinated by ACP Andy Belfon and Snr. Supt. Ramdeen, was conducted between 12noon and 6 pm on Thursday 15th July, 2021. It included officers of the Northern Division Task Force, Area Central.

Areas of focus included Windy Hill, Oropune Gardens, Bon Air Gardens, Lopinot Road, and Tacarigua.

During the exercise, a 19-year-old Arouca man was arrested for driving without driver’s permit, without a certificate of insurance and resisting arrest.

Officers also proceeded to a forested area off Windy Hill, Arouca, where they conducted a search which resulted in one shotgun and two 12 gauge cartridges being discovered.
