Police identify men shot dead in Enterprise

Two men who were killed during an alleged police-involved shooting in Enterprise on Wednesday have been identified as Jeremiah David Dixon, 24, and Jamaal Romeo, 34, from Port-of-Spain.

They were fatally shot while along Lion Boulevard, Enterprise, Chaguanas.

According to a police report, police were responding to a report of a kidnapping, and upon arriving at a house they were allegedly fired upon. The officers returned fire, hitting Dixon and Romeo.

The men were taken to the Chaguanas District Health Facility, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said they seized two revolvers from the scene.

The report stated that the two kidnapped victims were abducted at gunpoint after meeting six people at Rodney Road, Endeavour at about 1 pm.

They were robbed and taken to a house in Enterprise where they were held and beaten for about two-and-a-half hours.

The victims, police said, managed to escape and contacted the police.

The victims were taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility where they were treated and then transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Centre for further examination.

Police said the victims sustained multiple injuries including chop wounds.
