The Police Service is reporting that over the past 24 hours, some 94 persons were issued tickets for failing to wear their face mask properly (or at all), moving the total number of tickets issued under this regulation to 14,376.

In its latest COVID Regulations enforcement update issued today, Friday 24 July 2021, the TTPS also notes that four more people have been arrested over the past 24 hours for breaching the curfew stipulated under the current Emergency Powers Regulations.

The Police Service says this latest group of four arrested persons has moved the total number of arrests for this offence to 1,023 persons, since the State of Emergency was activated in May.

However, no one was arrested for breach of the Public Health Regulations, with the total number of arrests for this offence remaining at 1,220.

In addition, in its report for today, the TTPS also notes that these latest arrests would have been the outcomes of multiple patrols and other operations the Police Service carried out across the country over the past 24 hours—some 436 patrols and 62 roadblocks in all, during that period.

As such, the TTPS is renewing its call to citizens to adhere to the Emergency Powers and Public Health Regulations and welcomes information on possible breaches.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to take a heavy toll on the TTPS.

Some 312 police officers are in quarantine at present, while the total number of those who have tested positive for COVID-19 now stands at 89 police officers.
