Five men have been arrested following the seizure of two firearms and a quantity of ammunition earlier today, Sunday 21 June 2020.

According to police reports, the illegal firearms included a sub-machine gun and a pistol.

Reports are that officers of the Western Division Task Force (WDTF) conducted an Operation Restoration exercise in the Cocorite district, at 10 am on Sunday.

Acting on information received, the officers went to Harding Place, Cocorite, where they conducted a search.

Officers discovered and seized one Springfield XDS pistol with five rounds of .45 ammunition, as well as one MP5 sub-machine gun with two magazines containing 43 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Five men were arrested with the find.

Four of the five men are from Harding Place in Cocorite, while the fifth man is from Peas Tree, El Dorado.

The men, aged 19 to 22 years, have all been taken to the Four Roads Police Station, pending further enquiries.

The Operation Restoration initiative was coordinated by Snr Supt (Ag) Thompson, Supt (Ag) Smith, ASP (Ag) Henry, and supervised by Inspectors (Ag) Bruno and Grant. It was executed by Sgt (Ag) Carmona, Cpls (Ag), Dominique, Khan and Murray and other officers of the WDTF.
