Police seize US$47,950 in Couva

Officers attached to the North Eastern Division Gang Intelligence Unit seized US$47,950 in Couva yesterday. The following is a press release from the TTPS:

Officers of North Eastern Division Gang Intelligence Unit seized US$47,950 during an anti-crime exercise in the Central Division yesterday, Tuesday 17th August 2021. During the exercise, a search was conducted at a house in Couva. In the course of the search, a blue and yellow duffle bag containing a sum of United States currency were found and seized.

The money was counted in the presence of a man and it amounted to $47,950. The exercise was spearheaded Ag.ACP Andy Belfon, Ag. Snr. Supt Winston Maharaj, Ag/Supt. Ramjohn, ASP Pariman, coordinated by Insp Bharath, supervised by No. 14691 Ag/Sgt Mitchell and Ag.Cpl Gordon. The Financial Investigations Bureau (FIB) of the TTPS is continuing investigation.
