Anti-crime exercises conducted by officers of the North Eastern Division, have led to three persons being charged, two men being detained and the seizure of three firearms and a quantity of ammunition, a police statement said.
Around 10:50 am on Monday 24th April, 2017, officers of the Rapid Response Unit, intercepted a gold Nissan Almera motorcar, at Croisee, San Juan, with three occupants.
A search of the vehicle yielded one gun and 49 rounds of .9mm ammunition.
Kristoff Mitchell, 23, Chelsea Alexander, 20, and Brian Gabriel, 24, all of Mt Hope, were arrested and charged for possession a firearm and ammunition.
They are expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate later today.
Officers then conducted an exercise at Lambie Street, Vistabella, between 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm, on the same day, supervised by Supt. Neville Adams.
There, they searched a Hyundai Accent vehicle and found one shotgun.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested, while another man, who was standing outside the vehicle, was held for being in possession of one Glock pistol, six rounds of .9mm ammunition and four shotgun cartridges.
