Acting Prime Minister Colm Imbert has congratulated the Trinidad and Tobago 4x400 metres team for winning gold at the IAAF World Championship in London on Sunday.
In a statement issued today, Imbert described it as a "most outstanding achievement".
"Triumph on the world stage, claiming victory for our nation and bringing pride to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
This is what we witnessed earlier today as our relay team crossed the finish line in 2:58.12 at the IAAF World Championships.
I imagine that each and every citizen is heartened by the performance of Jarrin Solomon, Jereem Richards, Machel Cedenio and Lalonde Gordon in claiming gold.
Their performance gave us yet another opportunity to hear our national anthem playing while the red, white and black was raised in victory for the world to see.
All the athletes who represented Trinidad and Tobago would have undoubtedly exercised discipline, trained hard and sacrificed much to get to this point and must be commended.
Winning gold at a World Championship is a most outstanding achievement.
The Government joins the people of Trinidad and Tobago in congratulating the Men’s 4x400 metre team."
