Brother Harrypersad Maharaj has retained the post as president of the Inter-Religious Organisation.

Brother Harrypersad came under fire following his statement in which he advocated the practice of child marriage.

A statement several members of the organisation distanced themselves from.

The organization held its election on Monday in which eight positions were up for grabs.

Several members of the board retained their positions including Archbishop Barbara Gray-Burke, who returns as second Vice President and Pandit Hansraj as treasurer.

Some newcomers to the board include Dean Albon Daniel as secretary and Mukram Sirjoo as public relations officer.
