Carib Brewery's management confirms retrenchment of some workers

The management of the Caribbean Development Company which produces Carib beer, has confirmed the that some of its workers have been retrenched.

A total of 15 workers were given retrenchment letters on Monday.

Chief Executive Officer of Caribbean Development Company Limited, Ian MacDonald has issued the following statement:

"Since last year, CDC began discussions and engagement for reorganized work structures aimed at improving overall productivity at the plant. As such, several employees have been affected by this restructuring exercise. 

It has not been an easy decision for us, but we must do what we have to, in order to safeguard the company’s competitive advantage locally, regionally and internationally, as well as increasing our operating efficiencies in keeping with industry standards.

Due diligence has been followed on our part and we will continue to work with affected employees during this sensitive time."
