The following is a press release from the TTPS:
A 48-year-old Diego Martin woman is rescued from the clutches of kidnappers and two suspects arrested by officers of the Western Division, following a kidnapping incident, which occurred in the Diego Martin district, on Tuesday 7th August, 2018.
The victim told police she left her Diego Martin home around 4:10am, on Tuesday 7th August, 2018, and was driving her red Hyndai Matrix motor vehicle, along the Diego Martin Main Road, when a white panel van pulled in front of her, blocking the roadway and forcing her to stop. She said three men exited the van and proceeded to enter her vehicle.
The victim said the men threatened to kill her unless she handed over the keys and security code to a casino in Woodbrook, where she works as a manager.
Fearful for her life, the victim handed over the keys and the information, before the men covered her face and drove off with her.
A report was made by an anonymous caller to the police about the incident and PCs McIntosh and Williams of the Four Roads Police Station, who were on patrol in the district, subsequently spotted the vehicle proceeding in a dangerous manner in the St. James district, around 6:00am, and gave chase.
The vehicle was later intercepted in the vicinity of Coronation Street, St. James.
After being stopped, one of the suspects exited the hijacked vehicle and escaped, while the other two were arrested and the victim rescued. Officers of the Western Division Task Force, led by ASP (Ag.) Dhanrajh Ramesar and the St. James CID, rendered assistance in apprehending the suspects.
The male suspects; a 25-year-old and a 23-year-old, both of Never Dirty Morvant, were taken to Four Roads Police Station and investigations are ongoing.
