For the fourth time in five months, a Chinese businessman accused of human trafficking has been denied bail.
Three appeal court judges rejected an application from chang bao wang to reconsider bail for him.
In the application, Wang claimed that when he was denied bail by the court in July, prosecutors claimed that the preliminary inquiry into the charges would be completed in a month.
Wang's lawyers claimed that the suggested timeline was erroneous as the preliminary inquiry was prolonged due to language barriers with the accused and the Venezuelan victims.
The court ruled that its decision was based on concerns that wang was a flight risk and that the situation has not changed.
