Planning Minister Camille Robinson-Regis has raised an alarm over the increase in cases of teenage pregnancy.

She highlighted her concerns at a meeting with a delegation representing the United Nations Population Fund.

The UNFPA confirmed the Minister's assessment and also revealed that HIV infections among young females have also increased.

They say early sexual initiation of children in our society is contributing to the problem.

The UN representatives commended T&T saying it has taken the lead in implementing measures to address the social issues.

The meeting also explored new opportunities to promote collaboration for development, focusing on evidence-based policy outcomes and continued technical guidance and support.
