Cops rescue kidnap victim

Po­lice have res­cued kid­nap vic­tim Josh Quashie.

In a re­lease a short while ago, Po­lice Com­mis­sion­er Gary Grif­fith an­nounced that Quashie had been res­cued from an apart­ment in Care­nage.

The res­cue op­er­a­tion was con­duct­ed by mem­bers of the Spe­cial Op­er­a­tional Re­sponse Team and the An­ti-Kid­nap­ping Unit (AKU).

Quashie is said to be re­ceiv­ing med­ical treat­ment at this time and in se­vere­ly trau­ma­tised.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, Quashie, 38 of Mon­trose, Ch­agua­nas, was kid­napped on Sat­ur­day morn­ing.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, Quashie’s black Hyundai sedan was found aban­doned at St Al­ban Road, Va­len­cia, around 8 am on Sat­ur­day. There were fake li­cence plates on the ve­hi­cle. His fam­i­ly sub­se­quent­ly re­ceived a $100,000 ran­som de­mand.

Af­ter view­ing CCTV footage, po­lice be­gan in­ter­ro­gat­ing an Ari­ma man who was in cus­tody for steal­ing cars at the San Juan Po­lice Sta­tion. In­ves­ti­ga­tors then went to a guest house in Port-of-Spain where the sus­pect was al­leged­ly stay­ing and car­ried out a search for Quashie with­out suc­cess.
