Cuban woman stabbed by estranged husband

A Cuban man is in po­lice cus­tody af­ter he al­leged­ly stabbed his wife, al­so a Cuban na­tion­al, in her face on Sat­ur­day morn­ing.

The woman is cur­rent­ly ward­ed at the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal but her con­di­tion is not known.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, the man went to Al's Din­er in Crys­tal Stream, Diego Mar­tin, where his es­tranged wife works, on Sat­ur­day morn­ing.

The cou­ple were seen ar­gu­ing when the man al­leged­ly pulled out a knife and be­gan to stab the woman in her face. He then tried to run off but was held by eye­wit­ness­es, who hog-tied him and held him down un­til po­lice ar­rived.

Of­fi­cers of the West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force ar­rest­ed the man and took him to the Four Roads Po­lice Sta­tion where he is be­ing in­ter­ro­gat­ed. Cor­po­ral Mo­hammed of the Four Roads Po­lice Sta­tion is con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.

Po­lice said the Im­mi­gra­tion De­part­ment will be con­tact­ed to de­ter­mine whether the cou­ple are in the coun­try il­le­gal­ly.
