Despite winning, Carter fails to qualify for 100 metres freestyle semi-finals

Despite placing first in Heat 4 of the 100 metres freestyle swimming event at the Rio Olympics, T&T swimmer Dylan Carter has not qualified for the semi-finals.

Carter's heat-winning time of 48.80 seconds placed him 23rd on the list of competitors for the event.

Only the swimmers with the top 16 times have qualified for the semi-finals.

The top time of the event was Kyle Chalmers of the United States with a speed 47.90 seconds.

Nathan Adrian was the last to qualify in position number 16 with a time of 48.58 seconds.

This was Carter's first time at the Olympics, at while he can claim that his opening race at Rio 2016 was a victory, unfortunately for him, it spells the end of his competition.
