The Elections and Boundaries Commission says a break-in at the office of the Returning Officer at the Larry Gomes stadium has in no way jeopardised the upcoming Local Government Elections.

When the returning officer Sherine Baksh went to her office last weekend she noticed that her computer was missing.

She is the returning officer for three districts in the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation.

But Chief Elections Officer, Fern Narcis -Scope told Guardian Media that the computer did not contain any information on the list of electors and furthermore, that information is available to the public.

Narcis- Scope said candidates are already in possession of a revised list of electors and it’s even available for members of the public for purchase.

She said she was informed by the TTPS that the computer was recovered and a suspect is in custody.

Narcis- Scope said the bandit tried to sell the computer for $400.

She is seeking to assure the population that this has not compromised the election and the TTPS will now deploy added security measures at their offices.
