An early morning fire has partially destroyed a fabric store in Sangre Grande.
According to police reports, around 1 am Wednesday, Sangre Grande police officers were on patrol when they saw smoke emanating from Ojoe’s building at the corner of Eastern Main Road and Andre Street.
Officers of the Sangre Grande Fire Station were informed and tenders from Tunapuna, Arima and Port-of-Spain also responded.
The blaze was contained to the top floor of the two-storey building, and was eventually extinguished.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Damage is estimated to be at least $1 million.
