One man was arrested and two firearms, a quantity of ammunition, and camouflage clothing were discovered by officers of the Western Division, following an anti-crime exercise in the Maraval district yesterday.
The exercise which was supervised by Supt. Peter Dominique, of the Western Division, took place between 4:30pm and 7:00pm on Thursday 27th September, 2018.
It included officers of the Western Division Task Force and the Four Roads Criminal Investigations Department and Police Station. During the exercise, officers searched a bushy area behind an abandoned house along Nicholas Street, Maraval, where they found a camouflage suit, a camouflage bullet-proof vest and one camouflage hat.
Further searches led officers to discover one Jericho pistol loaded with a magazine hidden in bushes along the same roadway.
The officers then proceeded to conduct a search of a group of men liming along Nicholas Street, where a 26-year-old man was arrested for possession of a Beretta pistol loaded with 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The suspect, as well as the items, were taken to the Four Roads Police Station.
