Health ministry urges citizens to get vaccinated as flu deaths rise

Tuesday, December 31, 2019 - 13:30

The number of flu deaths has risen by four to thirty-seven.

The Health Ministry confirmed the number of deaths for this season, yesterday.

The ministry also confirmed that the number of suspected influenza cases for the year stands at just over 3,400 cases.

The ministry is again advising citizens that the influenza virus is serious and generally is more severe than the common cold.

It says it currently is engaged in a robust, nation-wide influenza vaccination drive for the 2020 Flu Season, which ends in May next year.

The health ministry is encouraging those in vulnerable groups—including children, pregnant women, and adults over 65—to get the flu vaccine.
