Homeless man charged with manslaughter

Richard King a 33-year-old resident of the Centre for Socially displaced persons has been charged with manslaughter. The following is TTPS media statement:

A socially displaced man is expected to appear before the Port of Spain 8th Magistrates’ Court today, charged with manslaughter in the death of Ian Benedict Grant, which occurred on Tuesday 15th August, 2017.

RICHARD KING, aka ‘Ricardo Phillip’, 33, a resident of the Centre for Socially Displaced Persons, #1 Town Council Street, Port of Spain, was charged with manslaughter, after advice was received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, SC, on Wednesday 23rd August, 2017.

 Mr. Grant, 36, also a resident of the Centre, was involved in an argument with another resident of the Centre, on Tuesday 15th August, 2017, when he was stabbed in the abdomen. He was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital, where he later died.

KING, was charged by PC Adrian Smith of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 1, on Thursday 24th August, 2017.
