Jamiaca's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it will write to officials in Trinidad and Tobago for answers in relation to the treatment of Jamaicans in custody.

This follows a news report which suggested that Jamaicans who have been detained in the twin island republic are being ill treated. http://www.cnc3.co.tt/press-release/jamaican-detained-immigration-centre...

The report was published in The Sunday Gleaner on Sunday

In a release, Jamaica's Foreign Affairs Minister A. J. Nicholson described the claims as "serious".

However, he notes that the claims are being made by a nameless, faceless anonymous Jamaican and the side of the Trinidadian authorities is missing from the story.

He says he will forward The Sunday Gleaner article to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Trinidad and Tobago for them to investigate the claims and comment.
