Laventille man charged with indecent assault granted bail

Samuel Franklin, 56, was granted bail after appearing before a Port-of Spain Magistrate, charged with indecent assault against a 16-year-old girl.

A Laventille man was granted $80,000 bail, after appearing before a Port of Spain Magistrate, charged with indecent assault against a 16- year-old girl.

The offence is alleged to have taken place during the period May 1st 2017 and June 30th 2017. The accused is also charged with sexual touching against the girl, which occurred on November 27th 2017.

SAMUEL FRANKLIN, 56, of Upper Laventille, Joe Sam Hill, Snake Hill, appeared before Magistrate Adia Mohammed, in the Port of Spain 7th Magistrates’ Court, on Monday 27th November, 2017, to answer to the charges.

The matter was adjourned to Wednesday 13th December, 2017. Bail was granted on the condition that the accused has no form of communication with the victim, whether direct or indirect.

He has also been ordered to not come within 500 meters of the victim or to return to her home.

FRANKLIN, was charged by PC Joel Frederick, for sexual touching of a minor and WPC Elnora Wright, for indecent assault against a minor, on Monday 27th November, 2017.

Both officers are attached to the Child Protection Unit, Port of Spain Division.
