Lewis improves in second race placing 34th

Andrew Lewis improved 8th places in his second race at the Rio Olympics today, placing 34th in the Men's laser (dinghy) sailing Rio 2016.

The race was won by Robert Scheidt of Brazil.

Lewis was at one point in 9th place after the second marker but faded as the race progressed.

Lewis now has a combined 76 points which places him in position number 40 out of 46 competitors.

Julio Alsogaray of Argentina placed 2nd and Sam Meech of New Zealand was third.

The winner of race 1 Croatia's Tonci Stipanovic could only manage fifth place but is tied for first position with the Argentine after the two races.

Race three is at 12.15pm on Tuesday.
