A Trinidad and Tobago priest has featured in a Roman Catholic mass celebrated by Pope Francis in Ireland on Sunday.

Brother Jesse Maingot OP, played a major role in Sunday’s papal mass in the Phoenix Park, which was attended by an estimated 300,000 people in Dublin.

Brother Jesse has been living in Ireland after pursuing theological studies in St. Saviour’s in Dublin on his journeys towards his priestly ordination.

On August 22nd, 2017, he made his Solemn Profession in the Order of Friars Preachers (Dominicans) at the St Finbars RC Church in Diego Martin.

On Easter Monday this year, he was ordained a Deacon at the St Saviour’s Church in Dublin, witnessed by his parents, Roger and Abigail, who travelled from Trinidad for the ceremony.

In the photo above, Bro Jesse is seen holding the Chalice as he stood at Pope Francis's right (he appears left in the photo) during the mass and in the video below he carries the Thurible.

The hundreds of thousands of people braved wet and windy weather to attend the mass in which Pope Francis called for forgiveness for cases of sexual abuses by priests.

"We ask forgiveness for the abuses in Ireland," said Pope Francis at the mass, listing a litany of abuses including clerical sex crimes, a lack of compassion and action by church leaders and the separation of single mothers and children in industrial laundries.
