A male patient has escaped from the St Ann's Mental Hospital.
Terron Gilchrist, chief executive officer of North West Regional Health Authority confirmed that the patient was in Ward 27, the Forensic Ward and believed to have escaped some time between 7 pm and 8pm via an abandoned section in the ward itself.
The police was contacted as well as the hospital's security.
According to Gilchrist, the Forensic Ward is designated for persons who were sent from the court for psychiatric evaluation and assessment.
A search is on for the patient, who is believed to be a suspect in a murder case, according to hospital staff.
However, Gilchrist couldn't confirm if the patient is in fact a murder suspect.
