Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has left the country on a private visit abroad, according to a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister.
The statement reads as follows:
"The Prime Minister, Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley and his family, left Trinidad and Tobago today to attend a family wedding in Miami. Arrangements to travel to Miami were made earlier in 2015, even prior to the announcement of the date for the General Elections, which were held on September 7th.
In the Prime Minister’s absence, the Honourable Colm Imbert will act as Prime Minister.
Dr Rowley and his family are expected to return to Trinidad and Tobago on January 4th, 2016."
This is the Prime Minister's fourth trip out of the country since taking office.
