Police arrest Penal man for drug possession during anti-crime exercise

A 33-year-old labourer from Penal was arrested and a quantity of marijuana seized by officers of the South Western Division Task Force during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in Debe yesterday.

Officers conducted the exercise around 3:45 pm, on June 24th.

According to police reports, surveillance was conducted on a shed located along Somai Trace, Debe, which was occupied by a male suspect.

Officers approached the shed and had cause to search the suspect who had a black bag in his possession.

The search resulted in five rectangular packets containing a total of 2.8 kilogrammes of marijuana being discovered inside the bag.

The drug has an estimated street value of $28,000.

The suspect; a 33-year-old labourer of Penal, was subsequently arrested in connection with the find. Investigations are ongoing.
