Police destroy marijuana trees worth $200,000

Marijuana trees with an estimated street value of $200,000, were destroyed by officers of the South Western Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in the Los Bajos district yesterday.

The exercise, coordinated by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Neville Adams and spearheaded by Sgt. Sheldon Ablacksingh, was conducted around 11:30 am, on Monday 26th March, 2018, during which the officers proceeded to Oilfield Road, Los Bajos, where they observed a man standing along the roadway.

Upon seeing the officers, the man ran off into some nearby bushes.

The officers gave chase and came across a clearing in the bushes with approximately 200 fully grown marijuana trees and 700 seedlings.

The trees were subsequently uprooted and destroyed. No arrests were made in connection with the finds.
