The man held in connection with the brutal chopping of 35-year-old Jennifer Rampersad was released yesterday by police.
The suspect was held for questioning on March 8th.
However, investigators said no evidence was found with which to charge the man with the offence.
The accounts clerk is unable to give a proper statement as she is still in a critical condition.
Around 1:30 am on Saturday, Rampersad was attacked by a male intruder who dealt her several chops about her body
By the time family members were alerted, Rampersad had sustained injuries to the back of the head, her left hand from the wrist was almost severed and the right hand and two fingers severed.
She was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where she underwent emergency surgery however doctors were unsuccessful in their attempts to reattach the severed limb.
According to investigators there were no signs of forced entry to the house, and it is thought that Rampersad was attacked by someone she knew.
