Several local celebrities have joined hundreds of people in sharing a photo on social media, calling for prayers for Trinidad and Tobago.

It comes amidst a lengthy period of apparently unabated serious crime, with several murders that include young women.

On Sunday a Carenage woman was killed when a men attacked her in the carpark of MovieTowne, Port-of-Spain, slitting her throat.

The photo shows the face of a woman painted in the colours of the national flags.

Tears are flowing from her eyes down her cheeks.

The only writing on the photo is #PRAYFORT&T.

Hundreds have changed their Facebook statuses to replace them with the photo.

It is also being shared extensively on Instagram.

There have been over 60 murders for the year so far.
